Project Title: Condensate Off-take Facility

Client: BP

Project Period: May 2009 – Dec 2010

Project Description:

NICO (the NaftIran Intertrade Company) as one of Shareholders in Shah Deniz Gas PSA has no access to BTC pipeline which is used by other Shah Deniz Condensate Holders to export their share of the condensate. Therefore, a decision was made, by NICO, to construct Stand-Alone facilities to off take and export their share of condensate (5000 – 18000bpd).

The new facilities have added a tie-in point to the condensate line upstream of the condensate metering package so that NICO’s share of condensate may be taken and metered through a new NICO condensate metering package for export through a new pipeline to the Sangachal Garadagh Oil and Gas Terminal located approximately 13 kilometers away.

Encotec scope included detailed design, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning for all off take facilities inside BP Sangachal Terminal and included 2.5 kilometers of pipeline interconnecting Sangachal Terminal and Sangachal Garadagh Terminal. The main off take facilities and systems include:

  • Metering facilities;
  • Pig launcher;
  • Closed drain system;
  • HP & LP flare systems;
  • Fire and gas alarm system;
  • Pipeline cathodic protection;
  • Power supply, control and instrumentation systems.

Multidiscipline detailed design incorporated all major disciplines including process, pipework and mechanical equipment, power supply, lighting, earthing systems, instrumentation system to support facility operation and civil and structural design related to new facilities. Total detailed engineering scope on the project was approximately 20 000 man hours.

Construction scope included installation of process and mechanical equipment, fabrication and mounting of all pipework, construction and installation of RC and steel structures, power supply and installation of instruments and control equipment for new off-take facilities. Total scope of construction works on the project was approximately 240 000 man hours.

Encotec provided commissioning activities for the constructed facilities; total scope for commissioning activities was approximately 10 000 man hours.

Overall project cost was approximately 12 million US$.
