On December 15, 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding on the supply of natural gas to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkiye in Ankara.
The supply of gas from Turkiye to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will increase the reliability of Nakhchivan's energy supply through the construction of the Igdir-Sadarak natural gas pipeline. 500 million cubic meters of gas will be transported through the built pipeline annually.
Construction of the gas pipeline is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.
